STAMFORD COLLEGE
INSTITUTE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE MEDIUM EDUCATION
STAMFORD COLLEGE in PHUKET
Stamford has conducted English language tuition in Phuket Thai
Hua school for a number of years. The program has been largely successful, and
as of 2007 Stamford also offers English tuition to other students and teachers.
In particular, our TEFL course is now offered in our Cultural and Learning
center located in the Old Town part of Phuket town.
What does Phuket have to offer? The island of Phuket is much more than just a world famous beach resort. Dubbed “Pearl of the Andaman”, the west coast of Phuket does indeed read like a “who’s who” of the best beaches in the world, however, a fascinatingly different side of Phuket is available for those prepared to dig just a little under the surface. The Stamford TEFL course is located in the heart of old Phuket Town. A historically rich area going back to the 16th century. From the Stamford TEFL centre, you can explore old Phuket’s ancient heritage which began over 400 years ago when Chinese immigrants began mining tin. The Chinese merchants left a housing and infrastructure that still stands today
The Stamford TEFL centre is housed in
the old Phuket Thai Hua school (left). The school was set up to address
the educational needs of the growing number of Thai-Chinese families in Phuket
town and is recognised as being the oldest Thai-Chinese school in Thailand. The
old town area was declared a “conservation of cultural heritage zone” in
2004. In your free time, you will be able to explore this distinctive, charming
and unique area.
Phuket Attractions Some of the most beautiful scenery and beaches are located right here in Phuket. A mere 20 minutes trip will take you to the warm and clear waters of the Andaman sea. There are dozens of long, white, sandy beaches for you to explore – each with their own individual character. If you want more than just relaxing on a tropical beach, Phuket has a list of other attractions to ensure your stay is as fun packed as you want it to be. Choose between elephant trekking in the jungle, sea canoeing, white-water rafting, deep sea fishing, island hopping, national parks and waterfalls, temples and museums, bungee jumping, Go-carting and ATV tours, sailing and windsurfing, world class golf courses, scuba diving and snorkelling, international standard shopping malls and Thai cooking courses. If this is too tiring, don’t forget to treat yourself to one of Phuket’s famous massage and spa retreat packages.
Phuket’s convenience. Phuket is an ideal introduction to Asia. Phuket manages to straddle the gap between full Asian culture and the different desires and needs of international travellers. You can immerse yourself into Thai culture as much or as little as you like in Phuket.
On the other hand, if you are an experienced Asia traveller you will find that most of the island is actually still untouched by tourism and just gets on with it’s daily life as it has done for hundreds of years. Phuket is also a very convenient transport hub. Phuket International Airport has regular flights to every city in the world – some are direct, others are via Bangkok. Phuket also has regular busses to every part of Thailand as well as Malaysia and Singapore. Phuket also has regular bus and boat services to exotic islands within Thailand such as Ko Phi Phi, Ko Lanta, Ko Phang-ngan and Ko Samui.
Enjoy your time on the Stamford TEFL course. The staff in the Stamford TEFL centre are committed to ensuring that your spare time, as well as your work time, are as fulfilling and enjoyable for you as possible.
