STAMFORD COLLEGE
INSTITUTE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE MEDIUM EDUCATION
Jobs
We currently employs approximately 40 native-speaker teachers
within our institute group. We usually require our teachers to have a Bachelor's
degree or genuine alternative, but more importantly we require them to have a
certificate or diploma in teaching English, or TEFL/TESOL. There are many such
qualifications, but we recognize them all provided they are issued by a
recognized institute.
Teachers with highly relevant experience but no formal teaching qualifications
are invited to apply also, and such teachers might often be put through the
Stamford Teacher Training Certificate program. By doing so, an uncertified
teacher has the opportunity to become certified by a well-known institute of
education that is particularly well-recognized in this part of the world.
We have a contract for teachers, which durates for one full calendar year. It
normally starts in late/April early May, as this is near the start of the
academic year in Thailand. However, we do have vacancies at various times
throughout the year, so if you are interested in joining us, please send in your
resume at any time. Our contract calls for a teacher to teach 100 hours per calendar month, and for
this there is, of course, a reward package. The present reward package consists
of:
a fixed monthly starting salary of 26,000 baht
any overtime hours paid as extra
4 weeks paid leave, plus public and national holidays
medical coverage
long term work permit and visa applied and paid for
other minor benefits, such as down-time, which is the period
of time between semesters when there are fewer classes.
What kind of classes? Class size? Level of
students? Work five or six days a week? Does the school use course books? What
kind of syllabus do the students follow? These are some of the questions
teachers need answers to when applying for a teaching post at an overseas
school.
Within our group here in HatYai, we have a Primary school, an International
Business College, a Technical and Commercial College, and a Language school. We
have a variety of teaching positions available, so the type of classes you might
teach would depend on which position is open at the time of your application. We
increase the number of students each year (currently around 11,000), therefore
we have an increasing demand for teachers as each year begins.
Some of our teachers are long-term here, and we encourage prospective teachers
who are considering joining us to contact any and all of our current staff to find
out what it is really like to work at and for our school. To do so, simply email
the school from this site and request a contact.
We have programs installed that offer our students the chance to further their
studies at our Malaysian Institute in Kuala Lumpur and gain a degree from a
choice of recognized UK or Australian Universities, and we are also registered
as a testing venue for a selection of the Cambridge ESOL exams.
